Why Vrahos?
Vrahos is a small resort in Epirus, about 25 km south of Parga, on Greece's Ionian coast. It is defined by one of the region's longest sandy beaches - Loutsa - which stretches almost 4 km, while the village itself is compact: a handful of hotels, apartments and tavernas along the shore. A Vrahos holiday in 2026 is for travellers who want a long sandy beach without the urban ambience of Parga or Preveza.
The character is quieter than Parga and less touristy than Sivota, but with developed beach infrastructure - sun beds, waterfront tavernas, water sports. Loutsa beach is wide, with shallow entry, and traditionally popular among Balkan and Italian families.
The position is good for exploring: 25 minutes to Parga (coffee and evening walk), 30 minutes to ancient Kassope, 45 minutes to Preveza and its airport. Sivota is one hour to the north.
Beaches and the sea
Loutsa is the main Vrahos beach - 4 km of fine sand with pines and tamarisks behind. The water is turquoise, shallow and completely calm in the morning. It is organised only in sections, so you can move away from sun beds and parasols if you want quiet.
Lihnos - the southern part of the same coast, with a resort hotel behind it. More organised, less free sand.
Lygia beach (5 km south) - an even longer beach with a small village and a few tavernas. Access by car.
The Ionian sea is generally warmer than the Aegean and has better visibility. The shallow entry of all the beaches makes Vrahos exceptionally suited to families with small children.
Where to stay
Vrahos centre along Loutsa - apartments and small hotels with direct beach access. Most are family-run. Prices are friendlier than in Parga.
Northern beach (toward Parga) - fewer buildings, more quiet. You drive for most amenities.
Villas inland - stone houses on the hillsides above Loutsa, with sea views and private pools. A car is essential.

Getting there
Vrahos has no airport. The nearest is Preveza (PVK), 25 km south. From Belgrade seasonal flights (June–September), around 1 hour 30 minutes. Airport–Vrahos transfer 30 minutes by car.
By car from Belgrade - 1,000 km, 10 to 12 hours. After Thessaloniki via the Egnatia Odos (A2) to Ioannina, then a local road west toward Parga. Vrahos is 25 km further south of Parga.
Bus from Belgrade - seasonal routes to Parga with a stop in Vrahos, 12 to 14 hours. Return fare 70 to 100 €.
Best time to visit
May - cool, sea 18–20 °C, low crowds. Ideal for couples and coastal walks.
June - summer mode starts. Sea 21–23 °C, land 26–29 °C. The beach gradually fills.
July and August - peak. Sea 23–25 °C, land 29–33 °C. Loutsa is busy but, given its length, never unbearable. Stake your spot in the morning.
September - the best month. Sea 23–24 °C, land 26–28 °C, fewer crowds. Prices drop 25 to 30 percent.
October - first half still summer mode, second half slides into off-season.
Things to see and do
Ancient Kassope (10 km east) - an archaeological site with the ruins of a Greco-Roman city. Free to visit, perched on a hill with a view of the Ionian.
Zaloga Monastery - a small Orthodox monastery in the hills above Vrahos. Quiet, with a fine 18th-century fresco.
Boat to Paxos - 30 km north (from Parga), a full-day trip. From Vrahos you drive to Parga, then take the boat.
Kanali village (10 km south) - a traditional fishing village with a small harbour and waterfront tavernas. The specialty is fresh fish and meze.
Acheron river (25 km east) - the mythological river, gorge, swimming in cold river water. A full day's excursion.
Evening in Parga - a short trip to Parga for dinner and a walk. The lively lanes contrast with the quiet of Vrahos.
Pricing - what to expect
Accommodation: a four-person apartment is 45 to 95 € per night in shoulder, 65 to 135 € at peak. Three or four-star hotels with breakfast 60 to 100 € per person. Villas with pools 95 to 180 € per night.
Weekly cost per person: 290 to 460 € shoulder, 440 to 660 € peak. Vrahos is 10 to 15 percent cheaper than Parga for the same type of accommodation.
Restaurant prices: main course 7 to 12 €, fish 12 to 20 € (check the per-kilogram price), glass of wine 3 to 4 €.
Sun beds with parasol: 6 to 10 € for a pair in season. The beach is long enough that you always find a free spot without paying.

What is the difference between Vrahos and Parga? Parga is a town with developed infrastructure, restaurants and nightlife. Vrahos is a smaller resort focused on the beach. Parga is for travellers who want an active evening; Vrahos for those who want quiet rest by a long sandy beach.
Is Loutsa beach crowded in August? Yes, but given its almost 4 km length you never run out of space. The northern sections toward Parga are the least organised and have the most free sand.
Can I walk to Parga from Vrahos? Technically yes (25 km), but not realistic. Local buses between Vrahos and Parga run several times a day in season (1.5 €); a taxi costs around 20 €.
Is Vrahos suitable for groups of friends? More for families than groups. Nightlife is more limited than in Parga. Groups who want both beach and evenings out base themselves in Parga.
Is renting a car worth it? Yes, if you plan to explore the area. Without a car you stay on Loutsa, which is fine for 5 to 7 days but not longer. Rental 25 to 45 € per day.
