Pefkohori — Pine Trees Meet the Sea on Kassandra, Halkidiki
Pefkohori is a popular resort on the Kassandra peninsula with a pine-backed beach, calm water and a relaxed atmosphere. Guide for 2026.

Pefkohori (from "pefko" — pine tree) is one of the most popular resorts on the Kassandra peninsula of Halkidiki, named for the pine forests that extend almost to the shoreline. The beach is clean and well-organised, the water is calm and shallow, and the resort has enough facilities to keep families and couples content for a week or more without feeling either overcrowded or isolated.
The Beach
The main beach at Pefkohori stretches approximately 2 km along a gently curving bay. The water is shallow and calm — one of the most family-friendly beaches on Kassandra. Pine trees provide some natural shade at the northern end of the beach. Sun loungers and parasols are available for rent; water sports facilities (pedalos, kayaks, banana boats) are available in the central section of the beach. Blue Flag certified.
The Resort
Pefkohori village has a compact but pleasant centre with cafés, tavernas, supermarkets and a post office. The evening promenade (volta) is lively in summer. There are several good fish restaurants and a range of souvlaki and gyros options. The nightlife is moderate — a few bars open late — but nothing like the clubs of nearby Hanioti.
Day Trips
- Hanioti (10 km south) — busier beach, more nightlife options
- Polychrono (5 km south) — quieter neighbouring resort
- Sani (15 km north) — luxury marina resort, worth a visit for the atmosphere
- Thessaloniki (70 km) — excellent day trip
- Athos cruise — 3-hour boat trip from Ouranoupolis around the monasteries
Accommodation
Pefkohori has a wide choice: private studios and apartments (most popular among self-catering visitors), small family hotels (3–4 star with pool) and a few all-inclusive options. Prices are moderate — somewhat cheaper than Sani but similar to or slightly above Polychrono.
