Paralija — Olympic Riviera: Where Myth Meets the Sea
Paralija is a coastal town at the foot of Mount Olympus on the Olympic Riviera — long sandy beaches, affordable prices and mythology at every turn.

Paralija is a small coastal town on the Olympic Riviera in northern Greece, situated at the foot of Mount Olympus — the home of the Greek gods. This combination of sea and mountain mythology gives the area a unique character. The beaches are long and sandy, the accommodation is affordable and the view of Olympus from the shore is genuinely impressive, particularly at sunrise.
Why Paralija?
- Mount Olympus backdrop — Greece's highest mountain (2,918 m) is visible from the beach on clear days
- Long sandy beaches — flat, shallow entry, ideal for families and older travellers
- Affordable prices — noticeably cheaper than island destinations
- Easy driving distance — approximately 70 km south of Thessaloniki; 650 km from Belgrade
- Dion archaeological site — the sacred city of the Macedonians, just 5 km from Paralija
The Beach
Paralija's beach is one of the longest on the Olympic Riviera — stretching several kilometres of fine sand with shallow, calm water. Sun loungers and parasols are available for rent (approximately €8–€12 per pair per day). The beach is Blue Flag certified. Water temperature in July–August reaches 24–26°C.
What to Do Nearby
