Why Skiathos?
Skiathos is a smaller Sporadic island known for its sandy beaches (60+) and developed tourist infrastructure. Its own airport makes it easy to reach, and the compactness of the island (12 km long) means all beaches are within bus range or a short drive. A Skiathos holiday in 2026 combines quality beaches with the atmosphere of a lively Greek resort.
The character is lively and family-oriented. Skiathos has around 6,500 permanent residents, with the main town of Skiathos with its harbour, marina and waterfront pedestrian zone. It differs from quiet Skopelos in higher tourist density and more developed nightlife.
Position: 17 km from the mainland Magnesia region, 215 km northwest of Athens.

Getting there
Skiathos airport (JSI) - short (one of the shortest in Europe):

July–August - peak, sea 23–25 °C. Beaches full, but the number of beaches helps.
